The EU-Ukraine Business Council is an independent CEO-level forum for European and Ukrainian business leaders that is set up as a non-profit making organisation in order to promote trade and investment between the EU and Ukraine, to assist companies to develop business opportunities, to promote dialogue between governments and companies to help solve market access difficulties and overcome regulatory obstacles both for Ukrainian businesses in the EU and EU businesses in Ukraine.

The main activities and events organised by the Council in 2013 were:

1. Market Access

The EUUBC together with the British Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and with the British Business Club of Ukraine organised a presentation to Ukrainian Business of the opportunities for developing offshore business in the United Arab Emirates. The presentation "Developing your business and tapping investment opportunities in the most progressive Free Trade Zone in the United Arab Emirates" took place on 28 March in Kiev. The EU Ukraine Business Council held a discussion panel on "Removing Economic and Political Blocks to Investment in the Eastern Partnership Countries" on 3 September at the Economic Forum in Krynica, Poland. Further information

2. European Neighbourhood Policy

In April, the Council organised a workshop to compare and analyse the progress with reforms made by the 6 ENP countries in the run-up to the Eastern Partnership Summit scheduled for November in Vilnius. The event “The European Neighborhood Policy – Eastern Dimension: Progress with Reforms” was held with the support of the Member of the European Parliament Bela Kovacs. Further information

Organized by the Yushchenko Foundation, Paweł Zalewski, Member of the European Parliament, and David Campbell Bannerman, Member of the European Parliament, with support from the EU Ukraine Business Council the conference “EU: Ukraine: Time to Walk the Talk” took place in June at the European Parliament. The event was co-chaired by President Victor Yushchenko, the Third President of Ukraine, Paweł Zalewski and David Campbell Bannerman. Further information

The EU Ukraine Business Council was an official partner of the Institut Wychodni who organised the EU UKRAINE FORUM together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary in May in Budapest. Further information

As a part of the EastInvest consortium, the EUUBC continues participating in the activities of the Eurochambres. This year, the EUUBC hosted the reception on behalf of Ukraine for the Brussels delegates of the Eurochambres members.

3. European Values

The seminar “Protecting the Freedom of Religion and Beliefs in the Eastern Partnership Countries” took place on 18 September at the European Parliament and was hosted by the EUUBC and Jelko Kacin, MEP. Further information

The conference “Agenda for Human Rights in the Eastern Partnership Countries: Strategies for Protecting Women and Children from Trafficking” took place on 24 September at the European Parliament and was hosted by the EUUBC and Nikki Sinclaire, MEP. The conference discussed various approaches for the prevention of trafficking of women and children, including liberalising prostitution laws, criminalising consumers in destination countries, creating networks for interdisciplinary cooperation, seeking compensation for trafficked persons and targeting grassroots education toward vulnerable populations. 4. Image of Ukraine

On 17th November the Council organised together with Agoria and InvestUkraine a business presentation of Eurobasket 2015 Ukraine, and in particular of the Kalmius stadium, Donetsk.This seminar gave information on the opportunity for developing new business in Ukraine, and gave an insight from western business people on how to approach business today in Ukraine. Bela Kovacs MEP, Ihor Yankovski, EU Ukraine Business Council and the European Parliament's Classical Music Inter-Group organised an exhibition and concert “Ukraine Through Children's Eyes” on 5th November 2013 at the Yehudi Menuhin Space in the European Parliament. Participants enjoyed unique music from the Ukrainian musicians Yaroslav Dzhus on the Ukrainian bandura and Dmytro Sukhovienko on the piano. Further information
